About Ault Cyber Partners
A consultancy built on owning technology outcomes — not observing them.
Ault Cyber Partners is a San Diego strategic technology and security consultancy serving businesses across the United States. The practice is built on 25+ years of enterprise engineering and executive leadership, and exists for one purpose: giving organizations without a full-time CTO, CIO, or CISO the strategy, assessments, and accountability that seat would provide.
Why the practice exists
Capable organizations keep hitting the same gap.
Good businesses — often with good MSPs — routinely have no one accountable for technology strategy. Nobody translating business objectives into a roadmap. Nobody validating that backups restore, that security controls hold, or that the cyber insurance questionnaire was answered truthfully. Technology decisions land on a CFO's or managing partner's desk by default, and the vendors grade their own homework.
Ault Cyber Partners fills that seat: executive-grade direction and independent validation, sized for organizations that don't need — or can't yet justify — the full-time hire.
The experience behind the practice is earned, not studied: 17 years of engineering at a Fortune 500 financial software company, including M&A technical due diligence evaluating acquisition targets' systems and risk, followed by over a decade as the sitting CTO of a California insurance company — owning platform modernization, the security program, external audit cycles, business continuity, third-party risk, and AI evaluation, with the budgets, board questions, and 2 a.m. calls that came with them.
How we work
- Evidence before action. Assessments and validation first; recommendations only when the facts support them
- Business language. Findings in terms a managing partner or CFO can act on — not vendor-speak
- Vendor neutral. No reselling, no commissions, no quiet incentives behind a recommendation
- Practitioner-led. The person assessing your environment is a person who has run one
- Straight answers. Including “you don't need this” and “your MSP is doing fine here”
The experience behind the practice
Outcomes the work is built on.
Enterprise Platform Migrations
Core policy, billing, claims, and reinsurance systems moved off legacy green-screen applications onto a modern browser-based platform, plus a document management system migration carrying 18TB of data reaching back over 20 years — all brought across intact.
Security Program Leadership
Security programs built and matured end to end: attack surface management, third-party risk, and ongoing awareness training with phishing simulation and remediation.
IT & Cyber Audit Cycles
Organizations guided through recurring external IT and cybersecurity audits to successful results, year after year — the same preparation now offered to clients facing theirs.
Learning Platform, 11,000+ Users
A continuing legal education platform delivered at scale — 11,000+ users across 120+ courses, integrated with the California State Bar.
Due Diligence & Integration
M&A technical due diligence performed at Fortune 500 scale — evaluating acquisition targets' systems, architecture, and risk in support of deal decisions — through to post-merger technology harmonization once the deal closes.
Vendor, Budget & Team Leadership
Multi-year ownership of technology budgets, vendor portfolios, and internal teams — the discipline of making every dollar and every contract answer to a business objective.
Where we work
San Diego roots. Nationwide reach.
The practice is based in San Diego and works on-site throughout the county — in the room for leadership meetings, assessments, and the conversations that matter. Beyond Southern California, engagements run remotely with on-site travel as the work requires — wherever in the country the client is. Either way, clients work directly with the principal: no account managers, no handoffs, no bench.
